HONOR ROLL #47, AUGUST 29

You know your superhero movie isn't going well when the villain, this time played by J. CARROLL NAISH, gives a better perfomance than both of the main heroes.

Jack the Ripper and JOHN NEVILLE's Sherlock Holmes: two J's that go great together.

I suppose it's "reverse-snobbery," but I like seeing classically trained actors like LAURENCE OLIVIER show up in fantasy-extravaganzas.

In contrast to "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers," the extraterrestrials of "Battle in Outer Space" got a name (of sorts): THE NATAL SPACEMEN.

In the obscure serial "Jungle Queen" EDWARD NORRIS did all the heavy lifting, and fighting, for the titular royalty of RUTH ROMAN.

ORGA-Porgie, Pudding and Pie.
